The WBC champion fighting Nagumo.
He had an upcoming WBC junior featherweight title defence match against Nagumo Ryūji. When his match arrived, he travelled to Tokyo, Japan and went to the Ryōgoku Kokugikan. When the match began, the champion had trouble with Nagumo's speed while guarding his left jabs. As Nagumo attacked, he used a combination of two lefts followed by a right, which the champion began to read. When the champion tried to counter Nagumo's right, Nagumo blocked and the champion was hit by a counter after he threw a follow-up. The champion went toward Nagumo and countered his right, sending him down. When Nagumo got up, the champion guarded against his punches, and, after hitting him, Nagumo clinched. After the clinch was broken, the two had a close range exchange, which ended with Nagumo going down. The referee ended the match immediately, resulting in the champion's victory.
