Take Gym

The coach discussing the rumour about Ippo with Take.

At the Sameichi gym, he mentioned to Take Keīchi about the rumour that his next opponent, the JBC featherweight champion, Makunouchi Ippo, might relinquish his belt after his next defence. He thought if Ippo was planning to move on, they should have cancelled the Champion Carnival fight so that Take could win the vacant title against the second ranker. When Take's son arrived to tell his father about dinner, the coach was surprised to learn that Take was watching videos of Ippo every night. When Take's weigh-in for his title match with Ippo arrived, the coach attended the weigh-in at the Kōrakuen Hall, where Take faked being sick to try and fool Ippo to let his guard down. Afterwards, he and Take went to a hotel and while the coach thought the fake illness plan failed, Take noted that Ippo believed it, but still intended to fight his best.

Sameichi coach praising Take for his efforts against Ippo.

The next day, he arrived to the Kōrakuen Hall to be Take's chief second in his JBC featherweight title match against Ippo. Upon arrival to the ring and before the match began, he advised for Take to stay calm and move at his own pace. After the first round, he mentioned to Take that he has to seal Ippo's power and speed, which Take planned on doing. After the fourth round when Take complained that no matter how many punches he hits Ippo with, his legs won't budge, he told Take that Ippo looked like he is barely hanging on. After the fifth round, he tried to get Take's attention at the corner, however, Take did not respond since he was unconscious, only getting up to go to the sixth round. After Take was knocked out in the sixth round, he went to the ring to help him leave the ring and praised his efforts.
