The Shoulder Block is a defensive boxing technique using their shoulder as protection.
Usage[]

Fujii explaining Miyata's shoulder block strategy.
The user puts one of their forearms around the side of their pelvis, while their shoulder rolls up to cover the jaw. The user can also "roll" the punches with their shoulder by pivoting to the side and then land hits on their opponent. A Hitman Style user can easily use the shoulder block once they turn to the side as the stance has the shoulder of the hanging arm close to the jaw already.[1]
This kind of efficient defence protects two of the most targeted areas of the body in boxing: the liver and jaw. Generally, because the rest of the body is free, the user can easily do other things immediately like countering or positioning themselves for a better attack. The user can also move forward while dodging and using the shoulder block so that if punches land, it may hit the shoulder instead.
Trivia[]
- Genji Kamogawa noted that real life boxer Alexis Argüello heavily used shoulder blocks.[2]
