Tatsuya's father (達也 父, Tatsuya chichi) is a semi-recurring character in Hajime no Ippo.

He is the father of Kimura Tatsuya and married to his mother. He also owns and runs Kimura Gardening.

During Tatsuya's fifth year of elementary school, he came home with bruises due to one of the older kids bullying him. Kimura went with Tatsuya to the boy's house to demand an apology, but when the boy's father came to the door, he ended up being a coward and begging for an apology. According to his father, it was then that Tatsuya started to look at him differently.

By the time Tatsuya started middle school, he relied only on violence, and caused nothing buy problems for society. He quit school with out telling them. He was out of control, until one day the violence stopped when Tatsuya started to box.

Part I[]

Execution Arc[]

Before Kimura Tatsuya went to the Kōrakuen Hall for his junior lightweight JBC title match against Mashiba Ryō, Kimura told Tatsuya that he would come watch and cheer for him with his wife. Kimura was then confused when Tatsuya mentioned that he may have to take over the business. Kimura then attended his son's title match with his wife. When his wife began crying about their son receiving cheers as he walked to the ring, he told her to save her tears when their son becomes Japan's best. When Kimura and his wife left the seating area during the sixth round after Tatsuya went down, they were approached by Fujii Minoru. Kimura told Fujii about how Tatsuya became a delinquent because of him, explaining his past with his son and how Tatsuya looked happy when he polished his boxing gloves one day. Kimura then commented how his son's fists that he could not control have now become brilliant, deciding that he should go back and watch his son fight until the end. After Tatsuya lost, Kimura and his wife noticed that their so had not left his room for two days, believing that they should leave him alone.

Part II[]

Seiken Arc[]

Kimura informed his son that due to players from his local shopping district's baseball game dropping out, spots were needed to be filled for the local team. His son decided to get Aoki, Ippo, Itagaki, and Takamura to fill the spots. Kimura watched the baseball game, where the shopping district team won.

In the Jungle Arc[]

As Tatsuya was focused on boxing while working, he was cutting too much of the flowers, which Kimura frantically told him to stop.

Speed Zone Arc[]

When Tatsuya's Class A Tournament finals arrived, Kimura went to the Kōrakuen Hall with his wife. The Kimura family sat with the Itagaki family and Tomiko. Kimura watched and cheered for Itagaki Manabu in his match against Saeki Takuma, which ended in Itagaki's victory in the fourth round by knockout, Tatsuya's match, which ended in Tatsuya's loss by decision, and Aoki's match against Iga Shinobu, which ended in Aoki's loss by knockout in the seventh round.

Seeking Heights Arc[]

When Takamura and the rest of the Kamogawa gym professional boxers were hosting a parade for Takamura's WBC and WBA middleweight unification title match victory, both Kimura and his wife congrdualated him and gave him a flower bouquet.

Part III[]

Importance of the Support Role Arc[]

When Tatsuya's trainer, Ippo, visited their home, Kimura and his wife worryingly informed Ippo how their son has been in his room, noting that his weight management has been rough. As Ippo went inside, they expressed their gratitude that Ippo is looking out for him.

Keith Dragon Arc[]

When a typhoon hit Japan and passed in one day, he asked Tatsuya, who was looking at the sky, why he has a serious look on his face.
