Sendo vs Wally - Round 1383

Wally shows Takeshi Sendō his unorthodox boxing style.

Unorthodox Boxing Styles are techniques and methods that stray far from traditional boxing fundamentals.

Boxers who use these styles don't fit neatly into the categories of in fighters out boxers, or hybrids, as they punch and move in ways that are unconventional compared to typical boxers. While there can be some overlap with traditional styles, these methods are often unique or unpredictable. Some boxers who use unorthodox styles, like Masaru Aoki, push the limits of what's allowed in boxing, making his techniques almost illegal.

Stance[]

An Unorthodox Boxing Stance refers to any stance that deviates from the standard Orthodox Stance. While the Southpaw stance is the most common and widely recognized example of an unorthodox approach, it has become almost a convention of its own. Therefore, any stance that doesn’t strictly follow the traditional or Southpaw setup is considered unorthodox—it's not just a variation, but something entirely unique and tailored to the individual boxer’s style. An example of this would be Ippo's Peek-a-Boo Style.
