Rookie King Tournament: First Rounder Arc[]

Fujiwara getting hit by an uppercut.
Fujiwara was matched up against Makunouchi Ippo. When the match began, Fujiwara immediately went for a counter, as instructed by his coach, but Ippo blocked it by using the Peek-a-Boo Style. Unable to block Ippo's attacks, Fujiwara used a headbutt, which the referee couldn't see. With Ippo dazed, Fujiwara landed a strong right that caused Ippo to go down. After Ippo got up, Fujiwara hit Ippo with another headbutt, which the referee caught on and warned Fujiwara to not do it again. Fujiwara then grinned at Ippo, who now realised Fujiwara was doing it on purpose.
Ippo went for an attack, but Fujiwara blocked and delivered a uppercut. Ippo responded with a body blow and they began exchanging punches. When Ippo went from middle to close range, they simultaneously hit each other with a right, however, Fujiwara lost the exchange. Fujiwara, overwhelmed by his opponent, went for another headbutt, but Ippo countered with a headbutt of his own and finished the match with two consecutive uppercuts. Fujiwara was unable to get up by the count of ten and lost the match at round one.
